BLACKS CNM MachineThis machine will produce 10mm square Charpyspecimens from rough cut samples of up to16mmsquare or up to 18mm diameter bar. It is designedto enable Test personnel to produce their ownCharpy samples instead of waiting for machine shoptime. The machine uses a 5 blade cutter with easilyreplaceable ISO inserts, without any cutting lubricants.Up to 4 specimens can be machined at the same time and these are mounted in a rotating fixture. After the first rotation, which cuts the first side, the fixture is removed and reversed to cut the second side. The specimens are remounted in the fixture at 90 degrees, to cut the third and fourth sides in a similar fashion. On completion of the fourth side, a 10mm square specimen is achieved, meeting surface finish and dimensional tolerances of all international standards including BSI, ISO and ASTM.Two machines are available:Fixed Speed (CNM-158A1) This machine has a set milling cutter speed (1.98m/sec), for general applications.Variable Speed (CNM-140A1) This machine has a variable milling cutter speed (0.95m/sec to 2.35m/sec), for harder steels, stainless steels and plastics, to improve performance and tool life.The rotating fixture drive on all machines has a variable speed adjustment by thyristor controlled D.C. drive, giving an adjustable feed rate.These facilities enable optimum conditions of surface finish and tool life to be achieved at all times. In production the fixed speed machine will produce complete specimens at the rate of 4 every 20 minutes, using 2 fixtures and the feed rate set at mid position.Size overall: 90x50x65cm - Approx.
